Newborn Bliss [Rf Photo of the Day]

Photographer Dani Buckle captured this photo on her client’s private dock in Silvermere Lake in Mission, British Columbia. The newborn’s dad is a hunter and wanted a photo of his baby daughter on a moose antler, but rather than capturing the photo indoors, Buckle says, “I thought it would be more fun to utilize the sunset and their gorgeous dock.”

Buckle waited until the newborn, Hailey, was “passed out and milk-drunk happy” before wrapping and posing her. That happened just as the sun was starting to set, so Buckle took advantage of the natural light and set the camera down low to get a head-on shot of the sleepy newborn. “The image just popped,” she says. “It was a stretch for me. I’m not used to working without a perfect lighting scenario, but I think that’s why I love this image so much more. I love being outside and only using natural light, so that makes me proud of this image.”
