Romain Didier, a.k.a. “the french wedding photographer,” tries to keep his work timeless, knowing that in 10 or 20 years, his clients should still love their photos. But he’s unsure how to classify his particular style. He doesn’t see himself as an artist, but rather a craftsman, or a “memory manufacturer,” who puts his technical knowledge to use in his services to clients. Still, Didier is thrilled by the spontaneity behind his craft.

“What I like the most when shooting a wedding, what keeps me excited about it is to discover new places, new venues,” he says. In fact, he prefers not to photograph the same place twice. “I like the adrenaline of having to find the right spot, the right light in a place you are just discovering.”

A Canon and Sony photographer, Didier was in a noise punk band for years before becoming a photographer, touring Europe with friends “in a stinky van.” He still plays music, having recorded his latest album this past September. Didier has met Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys twice, he says, “and I’m really proud about it.”
