Qiya Ng and Kuoloon Chong say they like to experience a wedding as if it’s their own, integrating themselves into the family and bridal party to capture the raw moments that otherwise would go unnoticed. “Instead of focusing on an event,” they say, “we often look for the reason behind a particular event that is planned to happen.” While they aren’t wrapped up in picture-perfect frames, they are careful to use light and shadow to accentuate “the layers of emotional connections.” Their editing is inspired by late-Renaissance paintings and chiaroscuro—strong contrasts between light and dark.
