When it comes to wedding photography, Amber Gress knows exactly what she wants to shoot: “I like to set up a situation, such as the location, the vibe and the color palette, but then let the couple dictate their movement and emotion within the frame.” The result? A documentary approach with an editorial feel.  “I spent a long time shooting on medium-format and large-format film,” Gress explains, “which gave me a distinct sense of color. It taught me a lot of discipline, and about the nuance of skin tone and overall color casts. It took me years to transition to digital and get my work to a place I like. I feel like I am finally getting there, but I am also always evolving.”
