WPPI 2022 at The Mirage in Las Vegas is in now in full swing and in fact, we’re already halfway through the annual event. Each day’s agenda gets more exciting, including this list of WPPI 20222 classes for wedding and portrait photographers to attend today, March 1. Featured photographers include John Gress, Susan Stripling, Lindsay Adler, Scott Robert Lim, Vanessa Joy, Shawn Lee and many, many more, with the list of seminars, photo walks, and special events scheduled aimed at educating and inspiring attendees. Here’s what we’re particularly excited for from the list of some of today’s speakers and WPPI 2022 classes, including a series called RF Talks at the Rangefinder Lounge on the show floor in booth 1201, which takes place each day from March 1-3. Learn How to Light For Skin Tone: Today’s list of classes kicks off with a seminar by John Gress on tackling the challenge of lighting a group with diverse skin tones. Photographing different skin tones is a subject that isn’t discussed widely enough in the industry and this class works to change that. John Gress walks attendees through strategies for lighting different skin tones, then demonstrates how to apply those concepts to photograph directly to a group of people with a wide range of skin tones.

Easy Posing for Authentic Emotion: What’s more important, a perfect pose, or great emotion? In this seminar, Vanessa Joy shares strategies to achieve both. By keeping clients engaged, Joy demonstrates how to create poses that both look great and evoke real emotions.

One Light Artistry: Working with a single light is a common scenario for photographers working without an assistant (like myself!) In this seminar, Lindsay Adler shares all that photographers can accomplish with just a single strobe, accessories like gels and flags, and a bit of creativity.

Expanding Your Creativity Through Self-Portraiture: I’ve long found Susan Stripling’s wedding photography inspirational. But, in this session, Stripling walks through how she scratched that creative itch during the COVID shutdowns: self-portraiture. In this session, Stripling explains how experimenting with self portraiture led to new lighting, posing and post-production strategies that now influence her wedding work.

Introduction to Fashion Photography: The strategies used by photographers for advertising campaigns can bring a fresh look to portraits. In this session, Scott Robert Lim shares how fashion photography strategies can be applied to contemporary portraits.

High School Seniors: Live Demo and High Energy: Seniors often aren’t comfortable in front of the camera. In this seminar, Shawn Lee will conduct a live demonstration on storytelling as a senior portrait photographer. This seminar also includes strategies for getting seniors to respond by keeping the energy in the session high.

SPECIAL EVENT: Nikon Z9 Shootout & Reception
In this exciting event Charmi Patel-Peña, Jen Rozenbaum, Kristi Odom and Jerry Ghionis will be challenged like never before! With only a few minute each photographer will create unique work photographing tethered with a Nikon Z9 on stage using the same model, equipment and props!
