This Bangledeshi Muslim wedding between Vidiya and Rezaul is definitely one to remember, says international award-winning documentary and travel photographer Sephi Bergerson, an Israeli who moved to India with his family in 2002 and has been happily honing his craft ever since.

Bergerson says while Muslim weddings are usually subdued, this one was “a feast of colors and grandeur. It started with a welcome dinner, followed by an after party that rocked the building. The next day, the Guava Orchard grounds of the hotel were turned into a festival of lights for the colorful mehendi ceremony, with Rajasthani musicians and fire dancers.”

What makes this union more special, says Bergerson, is that the couple’s friends and family saw their love story grow and blossom over 24 years, and finally, Vidiya and Rezaul had decided to tie the knot. The lavish Muslim wedding took place at Leela Palace hotel in Udaipur over three days of grand celebration.

“Even after 24 years, the traditional Muslim wedding involves the ‘first-look’ ceremony where the couple gaze at each other’s reflection in a mirror. The bride was wearing an intricate black velvet lengha designed by Rohit Bal, and the incredible decor for the wedding reception night was put together to match her dress color. What a night.”
