Photographing a wedding can take anywhere from 8 to 15 hours, or even two or three days for multi-cultural ceremonies. Andrew and Tin Tin of Hipster Wedding get hired for many elopements, and they say coverage depends on how a bride and groom want to spend their special time together. “For an elopement, it can be two hours, where the bride and groom exchange vows, spend time together, take pictures around that area and then they are done, but it can be 6 to 8 hours of full-day coverage for an adventurous elopement wedding,” Andrew says. “For elopements, in our experience, most people have unique souls and are adventurous in nature, so most of the elopements usually have a unique style or location, ideas, etc. and there always seems to be a little less stress.”

The photo duo capture this couple’s elopement in Phú Yên, Vietnam. “We spent a camping night at Bãi Môn to catch the sunrise in the next morning,” says Andrew, one of the few places in the country where that’s possible. “Then we woke up at 4 a.m. to get dressed under the sky full of stars and a beautiful Milky Way.”

As with any wedding, there were challenges, says Andrew, including that the camp tent for the bride and groom was not what he expected, and weather in the afternoon after the ceremony was not good. “It was too cloudy so we didn’t have a golden hour or anything like that,” he recalls, which upended plans to take some shots with a drone. “In fact, the sky was getting dark so quickly so we decided to go with the wind! We focused on them riding on the motorbike running away after their elopement.”
