To celebrate their union, couple Pia and Basti spent four days camping with family and friends in the region of Hanau, in Frankfurt, Germany, while incorporating a DIY wedding into the mix.

Says Croatia-based wedding photographer Vanja Vrkljan, who describes his style as documentary, authentic and intimate: “This was a special and collaborative event, where everybody helped transform a casual lakeside camping spot into a wedding venue with bohemian vibes and a built-up tent.”

Vrkljan says that what he loved most about this DIY wedding is “the emotion that everyone brought to the wedding and how I felt that photographing a big family. My biggest challenge was making my way around a huge foreign city, being from Croatia and shooting a destination wedding. But that is something I am not complaining about!”
