As the father of two young daughters, Midhat Mulabdić of Benedetto Lee Photography often likes to dedicate a lot of attention to the children who are at weddings. “Their playfulness, honesty, sincerity, curiosity and wisdom fascinate me,” he says.

“During the ceremony, while the priest is speaking, there are times when nothing is really happening. That’s when I start looking for ways to show different aspects of the ceremony as well as focus on who the guests are.”

Mulabdić was photographing the priest’s hands at this ceremony when he saw this scene unfold. “I turned around and this little girl was lying down on the floor,” he explains, “so I snapped a few photos. I love every aspect of it. Mom with outstretched arms, Daddy’s face looking like he’s giving up and thinking about the meaning of the life!”

And, as Mulabdić points out, let’s not overlook the little boy on the bench playing with his sandals as two little girls next to him look bored and seem to just be waiting for the ceremony to end!
