Setting Up a Natural Group Bridal Shot at Wedding

Matt Kay of The Woods Photography in South Africa anticipated a meaningful group photo moment for the bride, who was about to greet her little bridesmaids in her wedding dress. “They just piled in” when they saw her, says Kay, who was ready and waiting with his camera. He had also switched off all the lights in the room to help “identify patches of good natural light around the space.”

Nigerian Photographer Pinpoints Beauty of Curvaceous Bodies

Lakin Ogunbanwo shot this image of Wana Udobang, a Nigerian writer, poet, journalist, filmmaker and TV personality, in a collaborative project for a womenswear brand. Ogunbanwo says the project aimed to highlight the grace and sensuality that is “reinscribed to curvaceous black and brown women by portraying the body as pure form,” which was also conveyed in a short video (watch it below!) featuring Udobang reading from one of her poems.

Timing Whimsical Photo Op at Iceland Elopement

Montreal-based wedding, family and portrait photographer Gabrielle Desmarchais asked the newlyweds to run toward the Skogafoss falls in Iceland “and on the count of five, to throw the bride’s bouquet and the groom’s hat in the air,” she says. “The conditions were quite rough with the wind, the rain, and the bride’s big and long dress. But on the third try, we were able to catch the action.”

Curious Flower Girl Grabs Wedding Photographer’s Attention

UK wedding photographer Martin Dabek spotted a little flower girl that simply could not sit still, popping into the aisle a few times to get a better view of the couple (who can blame her?). “I thought that it would be a good idea to move from the front of the church to the back to capture her stepping again as the light was brilliant,” he says. “When the wedding couple was leaving the altar as a married couple, the flower girl stepped out again, but this time her mum was holding her hand and basically stopping her from ‘stealing the show.’ I think she did it anyway.”

Groom Surprises Bride with Friends at Social Distance Wedding

The bride and groom proceeded with their wedding ceremony earlier this month, with just close family in masks, and they postponed their wedding reception with friends for the fall. But the groom had a trick up his sleeve: Just after the ceremony, as they exited the church into the parking lot, they were greeted with a big gathering of friends to cheer them on.
