Anna and Andy, from Art & Story Studio in the UK, say that shooting this underwater wedding—a first for them—involved a whirlwind of emotions.

“We have had our share of adrenaline-inducing wedding photography experiences in our lifetime, but this wedding was unique in that we were 4,000 miles away from home and 32 feet underwater,” they say. “We had never done that before!”

Shooting an underwater wedding had been a dream for the duo for years. “We started scuba-diving around the same time we dove into wedding photography. Naturally, it didn’t take us long to start dreaming about combining our two passions. Our current portfolio reflects underwater shoots in swimming pools and in shallow seawater so shooting an entire ceremony with a handful of wedding guests deep below the St. Lucia surface on a seabed was an exciting challenge for us.”

The reason they chose this shot as their favorite from the wedding shoot is because it is so surreal. “It’s a perfectly normal photo of a wedding ceremony featuring the celebrant, bride and groom and witnesses in a gorgeous ‘outdoor’ setting…nothing unusual here…except for the fish, scuba gear, fins, air bubbles and the mystery of the sea as a backdrop.”

Anna and Andy add that the bride and groom love diving and the ocean so they didn’t want to have their wedding any other way. “We love that and we were totally up for it!”
