Plenty of wedding photographers try the “no heads” crop for portraits of brides and grooms, but there was something more playful about El Salvador shooter Luis Siguenza‘s approach.

“Five minutes before the ceremony, the bride and groom came from their room,” Siguenza recalls. “I was waiting for both to come down but when I saw this frame, I had to shout, ‘Stop!'” The photographer draped the bride’s gown over the edge of the staircase, took a few steps back and clicked his shutter.

The couple likely didn’t know what Siguenza was seeing, but today, the photo lives in a new series he’s created, full of quirky wedding photos, called “Surreal Love.”
