This couple traded in California sunshine for shivery Iceland when it came time to tie the knot, and Maciej Suwalowski was there to capture it in front of “this awesome waterfall,” the photographer says. “It was raining so much that they barely could read the vows, as the written ink on the paper started to dissolve.”

Afterward, they walked behind the waterfall to capture portraits with a sliver of the remaining sun in the background. “I could barely see anything on my camera as everything was wet, and also I got sick that day and didn’t feel very good later on, but we managed to shoot for the rest of that day with a few more adventures,” Suwalowski reports. “What is even funnier: Erin and Michael brought this rain back to L.A. for their wedding reception a few months later when they repeated the vows in front of their family!”
