Couple Eric and Alicia wanted to fully embrace the beauty and amenities of their venue— Olympia’s Valley Estate in Petaluma, California—located on a private lake with a boat dock. Just after tying the knot, the bride, holding her sleek, white gown in one hand and her groom’s hand in the other, looked at their photographer, Aubree Fullham of Aubree Lynn Photography, and asked, “Can we get in the boat?” Fullham couldn’t refuse. The couple’s peaceful lake outing, which fortuitously took place just as the sun was dipping behind the nearby mountains, offered the perfect opportunity for the photographer to get creative.

“I really wanted a more dramatic image highlighting their reflection in the water,” she says, so she waited patiently for the perfect moment. When the groom turned his head over his shoulder as he rowed while Alicia sat enjoying the views, Fullham knew it was time to snap her shutter. “During their first few minutes of marriage, there was already a quiet, deep sense of trust and peace with each other, and I feel this image represented that.”
