Playful Moments

Recently, Malaysia-based photographer Ameirfikri had the chance to work with Emy and Arthur during a couple session in Kuala Lumpur.

“They were a super cute, fun and easygoing European couple that were in Malaysia on business,” the photographer explains. “We started with a few shots in their apartment and then headed over to a river about 20 minutes away—Sungai Kanching at Hutan Lipur Kaching, Rawang, Selangor—where they were happy to frolic in the warm sun.”

Ameirfikri says the reason he likes to first start with an indoor session before heading out somewhere is so that his couples can “connect to each other closely. I’m always trying to squash the initial awkward moment between me and them so they’re feeling more comfortable and not too shy in front of my camera. Then they can do whatever they like.”

He continues: “I really love this moment—it was a weekend and there were so many people in the water but they gave us some space. I love that the image feels very intimate, like they are the only ones there.”
