For many couples, picking a wedding venue can be a challenging process. From finding enough space to hold all of the guests to choosing a location that’s an appropriate distance for family and friends—it’s an important decision that can set the tone for the entire day. This couple chose to take tie the knot at a creative venue: the roof of the Winnipeg Art Gallery, saying their “I do’s” in front of friends, family and a unique rooftop sculpture exhibit.

Just before the ceremony was about to start, photographer Nicole Marie of Nicole Marie Photography captured this peaceful moment of the couple looking out over a ledge into downtown Winnipeg. “Aside from the color palette and composition of the images, what I really love is that it captures one of those moments of reflection,” Marie says. “It may not be filled with expressive emotions of laughter or tears that filled other parts of the day, but to me, it captures emotion and peacefulness nonetheless.”
