Levels of Happiness

October 21, 2019

When Jayme Lang is photographing family portraits, she tends to let the kids call the shots and lead the sessions. “We let Chiara lead this session,” Lang says, “I love that this family can look back and remember the little quarks and funny things Chiara did as a 2-year-old.”

Fun was had by everyone here, and Lang was glad to have captured happiness on every face. It was an in-the-moment shot, and the photographer loved that it presented different levels of height, from tiny tot up top to the four-legged furry on the ground.

“We were hoping for a sunset session,” Lang adds, “but classically in Vancouver, it called for rain. We decided to still move forward with the session and I am so glad we did. I loved the foggy mood that this rainy day gave us.”

(Shot on a Nikon D750 with a Sigma 35mm Art lens. “Because it was such a dark day,” Lang explains, “I shot these overexposed so that I could edit them the way I wanted and not lose details in their faces.”)
