Precariously Perched High Above Yosemite

Abbi Hearne of The Hearnes Adventure Photography was waiting for just the right couple to photograph at golden hour atop this precariously perched rock ledge at Yosemite National Park in California. She was seeking experienced climbers with no fear of heights, like Danielle and Nick, who reached out to her to photograph their engagement shoot. “They mentioned that they were rock climbers and that the valley had special meaning to them, but they had never been up to this specific part, Glacier Point,” Hearne says.

Once Danielle and Nick were on board with Hearne’s concept, the next challenge was making sure the couple felt comfortable. “As an adventure-focused photographer, it’s super important to me to find each client’s comfort level and push it just enough that they feel adventurous, but not so much that they are uncomfortable or afraid,” she says. “These lovebirds felt calm and relaxed just gazing into each other’s eyes, and, at one point they even snuck a peek over the edge to view the giant valley below.”
