It was a rainy day when Malaysia photographer Ameirfikri was set to shoot a couple’s session with these two. In their cozy apartment, the photographer realized his clients were a little “shy and stiff at first,” so he loosened them up with a little ice-breaking conversation. Eventually, he had them get comfortable on their bed as he snapped photos.

“For me, it’s hard to get a real and organic moment if you don’t know the couple well,” says Ameirfikri, who advises to “be friendly and positive, always—this is so important. The couple actually is your mirror.”
