A Happy Accident

This Jewish wedding ceremony was supposed to take place outside on the balcony facing the ocean but a tropic storm changed the plans and it was moved to the lobby of a high rise.

“We were in a very tight space and were surrounded by the family forcing us into the aisle,” explains Florida-based photographer Vanessa of Vanessa & Johnny. “The bride approached the chuppah and the rabbi signaled her to stop to cover her face with the veil. When her husband pulled the veil over her face, it covered the lens as I took a photograph. It was a happy accident and I didn’t realize it until editing. It’s something that if I had planned it, it would not have worked. I love how it gives the perspective of what the bride saw as she approached the chuppah. She saw her children, mom and rabbi with pure joy.”

The photographer adds that she had two continuous lights lighting the chuppah. “Also, this was both their second marriage so you can see the groom’s son filming with his cell phone.”
