By Arlene Evans

In case you missed it the first time, the PHOTOPLUS+ Network (owned by the same parent company as Rangefinder) is hosting a re-stream of Lindsay Adler’s One Light Artistry lighting class on Wednesday, January 27, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EDT.  Even better, Adler will be in the chat room to answer attendee questions coming in during the re-stream.

Adler, named Rangefinder Icon of the Year in 2020, is also a Canon Explorer of Light, a Profoto Ambassador and an international photographer and educator. She has written a number of lighting books including Shooting in Sh*tty Light: The Top Ten Worst Photography Lighting Situations and How to Conquer Them with photographer Erik Valind, as well as the Studio Lighting Guide and Commercial Lighting Recipe Book.

Adler, who has always believed that photography is lighting, will show registrants how using a single strobe can create an amazing portrait. The key is in understanding the elements and tools photographers can use to control the light. These include:

  • Distance
  • Position
  • Modifiers
  • Feathering

During the hour-long talk, Adler will help photographers tap into their artistic sides and use lighting to create striking imagery that clients will love. The good news is, you don’t need expensive lights or props to achieve the results you’re looking for in your images.

While knowing the essentials will help you to craft timeless imagery, you can also learn to think outside the box for creative, striking results. Lighting can be simple and inexpensive, but also create results that are impossibly beautiful!
