Gear

What’s In Your Bag, Heidi Browne?

I like to shoot with a really light gear load because it helps me stay mobile. I usually rely on natural light, so I rarely use artificial lighting—I only use my speed light when I’m doing a nighttime shoot where flash is part of the creative direction.

Most of my work that you see on my site is shot on the 50mm or the 35mm lens. Those are my two favorites because the camera seems to disappear in the final images and you get a sense that you are actually there. However, I do like having a variety of focal lengths at my disposal when I show up to a shoot. You never know what a particular location might call for. And sometimes, I will grab a few film shots on my grandpa’s Olympus for my personal work.
