Litra’s LitraStudio: One Million Portable Colors

September 20, 2019

By David Alexander Willis

Litra has updated their lines of LEDs with color. The LitraStudio uses a RGBWW engine with two white chips for a daylight-to-tungsten temperature range at 2,000 to 10,000K. With RGB output, it also gives more than one million colors.

White or RGB, it can run 3,000 lumens continuously for roughly an hour on full charge, and a bursting flash mode will bump up output to 6,000 lumens. The pocket-sized, battery-powered light is 5.5 × 3.9 x 2.9 inches and controlled wirelessly through Bluetooth using mobile devices and the Litra app.

Litra says that multiple LitraStudio units can be used together, as well. There is also an onboard OLED menu on the back of the light. It weighs 950 grams, a bit above two pounds.

For video work, or just parties, the Effects Mode gives flashing and color effects for police, paparazzi, candle and others. The Gel Mode matches common daylight and tungsten gel corrections. Soft box, barn doors, and honeycomb grids are available for light shaping.

Giving 50-degree light spread and full 0-100 percent dimming, the LitraStudio has smooth, even light patterns without center hotspots or harsh edges, the LitraStudio measures at 97 CRI and TLCI for color and skin tones. A customized LitraStudio DMX Dongle will be available for theatrical and film productions, too.

The $219 bi-color LitraPro has an adjustable color temperature range of 3,000-6,000K. The LitraStudio is planned to be available soon for “under $650.”
