Photographer Kate Whyte has a longstanding relationship with this model. “Anyiech was the first model I shot when I got back into shooting portraits after a seven-year hiatus,” Whyte explains. “She and I have become great friends and I work with her a lot.” So when Anyiech was pregnant, Whyte knew she wanted to work with her on a maternity shoot.

Captured at Whyte’s studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, the session was a true collaboration between subject and photographer. “We didn’t use any stylists, but the color of her dress reflects the color palette of our very first portrait session,” Whyte says, and the pose was set up to best showcase the model’s character. “We worked together to find a way to approach the maternity shoot in a clean, minimal and modern way to reflect her aesthetic. I love how strong and self-assured she is and that she’s looking forward to the future she shares with her daughter.”
