More and more, wedding photographers are tasked not just with capturing cherished memories of the day but also the events leading up to and after the wedding itself. For couple Stephanie and Beto’s nuptials, Devin Robinson of Anchor & Veil Photography (which he owns with wife, Kathryn) spent about three days in Medellin, Colombia, covering the events leading up to the big day, which he says consisted mostly of “shooting party buses, nightclubs and lunch. Nothing too crazy!”

“The day was a little hectic, as most Colombian weddings tend to be, or so I hear,” says Devin, “but it was still doable. The ceremony started 45 minutes late so time management was a challenge, but we have a fairly efficient way of getting through family photos and bridal party pictures that make them meaningful but still make up a lot of time.”

The Robinson’s favorite part of the day was the reception, held at Hacienda Fizebad in Medellin. “Colombian weddings go late. This one went until 3 a.m. and at midnight, they had something called ‘crazy hour’ where they brought out confetti canons, spray bottles hats and glow sticks. The party was fun and it just kept on going. It was great.”
