Wedding of the Week

Capturing a Couple’s Uniquely Fun and Fashionable Party

June 4, 2020

By Jacqueline Tobin

Ben and Matt’s wedding late last year at Hebden Bridge Town Hall in West Yorkshire, England, was, says photographer Nicola Mackrill, “the most unusual wedding I’ve covered; it was such a fun and fashionable party.”

Mackrill means that, she adds, in the best way possible. “I loved that they chose a theme that was so unique and that they interpreted so well; they even had art supplies on the tables so their guests could draw after the meal!”

Mackrill describes that theme as “Spanish Baroque meets Seventies Disco.” The grooms hired a lute player, a barbershop quartet and had a shamanic blessing, plus musical performances from friends.

Matt and Ben's wedding was fun and fashionable and had a Spanish Baroque element.

Fun and fashionable details were the norm for this wedding.
Guests were able to draw at the tables.
Table settings and details resembled a still-life painting.

The reception, held the The Birchcliffe Centre in Hebden Bridge had very unqiue decor, made up of “ornaments and antiques from charity shops along with fruit, vegetables, flowers and taxidermy to resemble a still-life painting.”
