As temperatures heat up and the “unofficial” start of summer is here, I found this snowy March wedding in Quebec City by Joel and Justyna Bedford incredibly refreshing and, dare I say it, has me longing just a bit for winter again!

The getting-ready portion of the coverage took part at Château Frontenac while the ceremony was at Cathedral-Basilica of Notre-Dame de Québec. The gorgeously grand reception was held at Musée de L’Amérique Francophone.

“March in Quebec City is both very cold and full of tourists,” says Joel. “The weather is quite unpredictable and even on colder days, there are many crowds of people out and about, enjoying a slice of Europe in North America. While our bride and groom were certainly feeling adventurous, we did have weather challenges to deal with. It’s really a matter of embracing the chaos and photographing the day as the couple may remember it. And with destination weddings, sometimes you don’t have enough time to do a proper scout for locations. We always aim to show up at least a day early and get familiar with our surroundings. There’s nothing worse than finishing a day and realizing in hindsight that a beautiful photo op was just around the corner.”
