“Take a picture, it lasts longer.” The classic quip has more than a grain of truth to it.

According to print permanence expert and founder of Wilhelm Imaging Research, Henry Wilhelm, Epson’s P600 can produce a print that lasts for over 200 years when properly stored under glass. The figures were released by Epson at the WPPI show.

Wilhelm was commissioned by Epson to conduct longevity tests on the P600 running Epson’s UltraChrome HD pigmented ink sets.

Three of the company’s fine art papers cracked the 200 year mark: Premium Luster, Exhibition Fiber and Ultra Smooth Fine Art Paper.

Wilhelm Imaging Research is still running tests on the P600 so additional papers may be added to the list.

The P600 is available now for $800.
