“Kids at weddings are the best!” exclaims Matt Kay, a wedding photographer who operates The Woods Photography out of South Africa. As the sun was setting at this outdoor wedding reception, he was occupying himself with a creative shoot and bridal party portraits.

“I had been watching this little guy playing with the umbrella out of the corner of my eye,” Kay says. As the kid twirled it around, the sun was hitting him in just the right way, casting him in perfect shadow against the parasol.

“Eventually I just told the bride to hang out for two minutes and dashed off to try to catch the shot,” Kay says, “because in five minutes, that sun was gone and that silhouette would have disappeared.”
