At this intimate outdoor wedding, Meg Champ, a wedding photographer based in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley, knew there would be emotional moments to capture with the groom’s daughter, Avah.

“Avah spent most of the morning tearing up while Emily got ready because it was so surreal to her that this was the day her dad would marry the woman of his dreams and Emily would now be her step-mother,” she explains. “They are literally best friends, and spend most of their days doing everything together. Emily and Avah were and are inseparable.”

The bride gave Champ a heads up that during the ceremony’s exchange of vows, she’d also be reading personal vows she had written for Avah. She got up close when it came time so that she could capture the moment and reactions. “Avah and Dustin could not hold back the tears as Emily spoke her heart to Avah and how much she cherished her as her new daughter,” Champ recalls. “She explained how she is blessed and thankful for their friendship they have built over the years, and how she was looking forward to their future as a family together. Avah is now her daughter, and Emily was born to be a mother to her.”
