Silviu & Simona, of Jurnal Fotografic in Romania, embarked on a creative project that had been germinating since the beginning of the summer.

“We imagined a vintage photo session,” they explain, “of that kind of fleeting love that remains anchored in time, to that train journey on a random Saturday with that bittersweet question looming, ‘What if.'”  

They continue: “We are grateful that we had such inspiration and good light in such a small space (and while the train was moving).”

While the photo duo’s first thought was to rent an entire train, they ended up paying for a photography tax (for about two hours of shooting), as well as the tickets for a train trip from their home town of Bucharest to the little mountain town of Busteni.

“The train was full with passengers because it was the weekend, but it helped that we had a little cabin just for us,” they explain. “Even the space was pretty tight on the corridor, but we were inspired by that moody light and the story we already had in our minds. Perhaps it’s because we feel trains have something magical—so many untold stories lost between stations, laughters, tears, and dreams imagined while watching the moving scenery in the window.”
