The Timeless Appeal of a Moody Black and White

Bride Katerina was a dream subject for Sydney, Australia-based wedding photographer Gui Jorge because, as he remembers it, “she really trusted me and my ideas.” When it started to rain towards the end of their portrait shoot, Jorge suggested taking cover in this sheltered area of the venue, Pier One in Walsh Bay, and Katerina was 100 percent on board.

This particular moment is a candid shot that captures Katerina’s gentle and kind qualities, Jorge notes. He edited the photo in Lightroom with VSCO presets, making it black and white to emphasize the timeless appeal and to “really showcase the bride’s elegance on this moody, wet day on the Wharf.”

(Captured using a Canon 5D Mark III with a 35mm lens.)
