You never know when inspiration is going to strike. For photographer Anita Surma of The Butterfly Photography, the motivation for this photo came after finding out about a friend’s latest fashion purchase: a red velvet vest.

“Once I heard about that, the idea for this shoot was born right away,” she explains. Creating a sort of gypsy theme, Surma chose this dreamy forest location in Ontario, Canada.

The subject is a professional model and former client of Surma’s. Paired with the big dog, Surma says she looks unstoppable. “To me, they both seem like they can walk the road in the dark, without fear, side by side.”
