The Confetti Factor

“I know the ceremony order by heart,” says Caroline Briggs of The Twins, who’s based in the UK, so when the bride and groom were about to be pronounced husband and wife, she made sure her camera was ready. “I took a couple of initial shots to check my exposure and settings.” She had photographed this venue
before—the Asylum in London—and knew exactly where to stand to get the best frame. The unknown variable, however, had to do with the confetti. “It was touch and go as to whether the bridal party would be able to fire the cannons at exactly the same time,” she recalls, “but luckily they managed to pull it off!”

The resulting shot earned Briggs a win in Rangefinder‘s 2017 Wedding Photography competition (entries are now open for 2018.) “I only enter competitions when I see a winning shot on the back of my camera, and this was one of those shots,” Briggs explains. “Everything just came together perfectly: the light, composition, emotion and timing.”
