The Agony of Defeat

A British wedding isn’t a real wedding without a giant Jenga, according to UK photographer Alline Beatrici of Beatrici Photography.

“This is a such a classic game for kids but the adults take it so seriously over here,” she explains, “so I crouched down on the floor for the game to seem almost way too small in comparison to their bodies. The trike in the corner really helped me to picture the childishness quality in the scene.”

Beatrici adds that her work is all about capturing genuine expressions. “Getting low on the floor and waiting over countless ‘false alarms’ of Jenga blocks tumbling down allowed me to fit in all different reactions from each person in the frame, even the groom’s finger coming out of the corner. It was perfect; he arrived last minute in the scene just as the blocks fell down!”
