A Speech to Remember

Photographer Benjamin Wheeler says he doesn’t usually stand this far away from the newlyweds during their reception speeches, but for some reason, he wanted to take a few extra steps back as this groom read his prepared notes to his bride at the Villa Podernovo in Monticiano, Italy. “There was a certain intimacy and privacy to the moment as Mark, the groom, appeared incredibly emotional,” Wheeler says.

Standing behind the wedding party and guests, the South London-based photographer used his 85mm lens to capture the scene. Bride Natalie began tearing up as Mark read aloud, “You walked into my life and became it.”

Says Wheeler, “I love this image because of the authenticity and what it meant to the couple at a very emotionally charged time of their special day. A moment like this shouldn’t be missed just because the couple isn’t beaming with smiles or laughter.”
