Photographer Marissa Siebert of Hazel Eyes Photography admits that she was in a bit of a creative rut when she scheduled this photo shoot at Folly Beach in South Carolina. “The whole purpose of this session was to really challenge myself and do something different,” Siebert says, and thankfully, “the bride trusted me when I asked her to come to the beach in her wedding dress.”

For this particular photo, Siebert explains that she wanted to face one of her biggest artistic challenges: photographing in direct sunlight. “I had the bride position herself toward the sun and I placed the veil over her,” the photographer explains. “I told her to close her eyes and embrace the sun. The wind worked with the veil to push against the bride’s face, and I just love that at the exact moment I pressed down my shutter, everything worked together to create something I couldn’t have set up myself.”
