Serenade From the Groom

This bride had the biggest smile on her face as her new husband played the guitar during their reception at Mount Rainer National Park in Washington. “I love the fact that I got this really candid and natural reaction from darn near close the groom’s perspective,” says photographer Kyle Wilson of Hinterland Stills. “How many people get to play the guitar in the middle of a national park for their bride? And in this case, I got to see her and this moment from his side of it all.”

For Wilson, this capture is also a testament to the power of client education. He’s been making a big push to educate his couples about lighting, so when it came time for the reception, this couple made sure their entire floor space was surrounding by string lights. “They nailed it,” Wilson says, and that enabled him to work on all sides of the dance floor and focus more on the couple. “I really try to focus on photographing my clients and their day from the inside out, and I think this is a great example of that.”
