Rock Climbing Romance

Photographer Emily Hary was 100 percent on board to go rock climbing with couple Eric and Carolyn for their daring engagement shoot on Mount Lemmon in Tuscon, Arizona. “I love when couples want to have an activity-based shoot because it reflects who they are and how they spend time together,” she says. “Plus, it was a unique and adventurous idea, which I’m always game for.”

To save time as the afternoon sun was just starting to fade, Hary opted out of using the ropes and instead scrambled up to a little nook on the side of the mountain. “I found a place to wedge myself in between the side of the rock and a shrub,” she explains, a spot that put her in a strategic position to create this scenic engagement portrait as the couple showed off their climbing skills. “Eric and Carolyn started bouncing off the rocks and I snapped this photo while they were mid-air. It was exhilarating and a genuinely fun time!”

(Captured using a Canon 5D Mark III with a 35mm f/1.4 L lens at f/2.8 1/3000 of a sec and ISO 400).
