Removing Distractions

December 26, 2019

Wedding photographer Andrew Franciosa, who’s based in upstate New York, used a common prisming technique for this couple’s wedding portrait. We’ve seen wedding photographers pull this move to add a sense of dimensionality and interest to an otherwise straightforward shot with refractions and reflections throughout the frame.

But in Franciosa’s case, who was photographing in a public park behind Albany City Hall, he cleverly employed it for a more practical reason, he says: to remove a big garbage can.

(Shot on a Nikon D750 and NIKKOR 58mm lens at f/1.4, 1/1600 sec and ISO 1250.)
