Rain-Soaked Romantic

Not even a relentless downpour could deter Poland wedding photographer Greg Moment from capturing this beautifully serene moment of a bride on her wedding day.

“My favorite thing to do is capture those special moments that would otherwise go fleeting by,” he says. In this case, he explains, the image was taken in Verona, Italy, a few minutes before the wedding ceremony.

“It was a heavy rain and the bride was waiting for the perfect moment to go. I was standing with my camera in my hands, completely wet. It was not easy to take this portrait because it was quite difficult to find the focal point. I used manual focus in this case, asking (using my hands and body language) the bride to get closer to the window. I needed better light on her face. My camera and I were completely wet as I did not have more time to protect the gear. It took me about 10 seconds to capture this moment because I wanted to hide myself against the rain. The groom was waiting for the bride outside of the car with an umbrella but she decided to stay in the car for a few more minutes. The rain never let up.”

In addition to natural light, Moment used a small sun reflector (30 cm) that he typically carries in his pocket.
