Quyn Duong attended bride Elise’s wedding as an off-duty guest, but a week before her wedding, the One Night Cereus photographer invited Elise for a pre-wedding portrait session at her studio in Dumbo, Brooklyn.

“Being in my dress and having documentation of it the week before elevated pressure of getting the ‘perfect’ portrait the day of the wedding,” Elise told Duong later as part of her post-wedding bridal interview series, Queen of the Night. “Because I had this moment the week before, it didn’t feel foreign putting on a gown the day of the wedding. And of course after viewing the stunning photographs you took, I couldn’t help but feel beautiful and extremely confident going into my wedding week.”

Duong wanted to keep the shoot as bare and pared down as possible, using natural light with the help of a reflector, “to not distract from her statement-making pieces,” she says. “The floral stem was laying around in the studio from a previous shoot, but it looks like her kingdom staff and truly makes her look like a queen.”
