When she knows she’s going to be shooting at a location she’s never been to before, photographer Carla Towill of The Unbridled, based in the UK, is especially conscientious to get there early so that she doesn’t feel rushed in poking around. Exhibit A: the Hayne House in Kent, a luxury wedding venue that keeps hidden, in the back of the gardens, a tennis court that was tented when Towill discovered it.

“I wasn’t sure if we were allowed in,” she admits, “but I entered and instantly knew we needed to shoot in here. The light, the misty atmosphere and symmetry got my heart racing.”

So, after the bride and groom’s intimate ceremony in the gardens, Towill told them about what she discovered and they ventured out. “They trusted me,” she says. “It was so quiet and such a serene space. I asked them to just be together and take a moment to breathe and just be.”
