Love’s Symmetry

It was nearing 6 p.m. by the time this couple finished up their vows at the UOB Plaza, a skyscraper in the heart of Singapore. Luckily, the light streaming through the windows at the time was just perfect, recalls photographer Jiajun of SideXSide Pictures. “I had them look at each other and utilized the directional sidelight to light the bride’s face,” the photographer notes.

And while the lighting is a key feature of this image, what stands out most to the photographer is the excitement this couple felt on their big day. “This was taken right after a very emotional wedding ceremony, and they were both beaming with happiness and joy in their hearts,” Jiajun says.

They were still overcome with emotions when it came time to take the portraits, and after they took a big breath to try and calm down, Jiajun pressed the shutter. “It is a simple, symmetrical composition and I like how by placing them apart, it gives the image tension yet maintains their connection. The end goal was to keep it as natural as possible to create a timeless keepsake of how they felt at the time.”
