This couple decided to make their dream of visiting Iceland a reality by eloping there. They teamed up with photographer Sergey Lapkovsky to venture to Seljalandsfoss, a beautiful waterfall in the southern region of the country, for an early-morning photo session before the ceremony.

A popular tourist destination, Seljalandsfoss is usually filled with tourists. On the day of the shoot, however, a cloudy forecast kept many of the tourists away. The couple stood by the waterfall as Lapkovsky captured a few routine frames. Suddenly, the sun poked through the clouds for a brief moment of backlight brilliance.

“All the drops from the waterfall were illuminated and it looked really amazing,” Lapkovsky says. They had only a minute before the sun went back behind the clouds, so Lapkovsky motioned for the couple to hold hands and walk toward him since his voice was muffled by the sound of the waterfall. He used a wide-angle lens and shot from a low angle to show the magnificence of the background. “I think that it was incredible luck how it all came together,” he notes. “As soon as the sun went back behind the clouds, a chilly wind started to blow and got the couple wet!”
