“The beauty of weddings is that they can be held in various places—be it a French castle, a cool restaurant or an unexpected spot like this one,” says destination wedding photographer Petar Jurica, an Rf 30 Rising Star from 2015.

Taken in the small Croatian village of Malo Grablje on Hvar Island, this image shows the bride, Alyson, exploring the area around the spot where she was to be married. According to the photographer, Malo Grablje has been uninhabited for nearly half a century and, today, the village has only one traditional restaurant, which is where Alyson and groom Miles chose to tie the knot. “They had never visited [the location] before,” Jurica says. “They just saw an article in The New York Times and thought it would be a cool place to get married—they were right!”
