While on a group road trip in Austria, German photographer Timo Hess captured this breathtaking couple’s portrait at Zillertal—a valley in the western city of Tyrol. As a newcomer to the region, Timo and the couple (who are also wedding photographers), as well as a fellow wedding-photographer friend Sven Götz, weren’t quite sure what to expect when they began exploring, and they also didn’t realize just how long it would take to find the perfect portrait spot at the valley’s peak. Due to gates, barriers and poor road conditions along the mountain’s roads and trails, the journey to the top took roughly five hours, Timo recalls. Fortunately, though, the group found their way and successfully made it to this secluded portrait spot.

“My favorite part of this photo is the closeness and the interconnection between the couple in relation to the depth and the range of the mountains in the background,” Timo notes. “Altogether it gives you a great landscape view which everybody enjoys seeing and a deep and tender romance in front of it.”
