Dancing in the Pemberton Valley

Canada-based photographers Shari and Mike say this couple was so excited to get married that their emotions were physically evident throughout their entire day. “They jumped, ran and danced everywhere,” the photo duo recalls. “We knew their reception entrance would be especially grand.”

And their intuition was right. Not only did the couple have a beautiful backdrop—the Pemberton Valley in British Columbia—they also embraced the moment to the fullest and danced like nobody was watching. Shari and Mike decided to take a step back to capture the full atmosphere of the location (which, for Mike, meant climbing on top of an old fence to get a little more height), producing this beautiful scenic wedding photo that went on to earn them a first-place honor in Rangefinder‘s 2018 Wedding contest.

“I wanted to take advantage of the lens compression of the 135mm and get a bit of a top-down angle,” Mike explains. And the view couldn’t have been better. “We love the joy and celebration that is happening in this image. If we only had a single photo to describe the day, this would be it.”
