Cheers To You

The skies opened up and rain fell after the ceremony at this wedding, says photographer Barbara Rahal, so she and the couple ducked inside for portraits. The bride and groom had planned to kick back and relax before the reception started, but, Rahal says, “as we walked down the stairs, we realized the sun was out. I wasn’t sure if I should ask but I am so happy I did: I asked the couple if they would like to gather their wedding party for a few sunny memories in the beautiful outdoors. They happily did.”

As they enjoyed themselves outside, Rahal ran and bought a bottle of Champagne for them to open and drink together. “I was very excited for them and happy to take portraits outdoors, and I thought a couple of toast photos would be a great addition to the day,” she explains. “The couple and their friends were excited to do cheers, and as I directed them to do a toast, I quickly ran under their glasses for a lower angle,” capturing what it was like to actually be there. “I immediately noted Megan and Keith were almost aligned but I gave them quick directions to get their faces in the perfect spot amongst the glasses. It only took two frames in short seconds and I knew I had it.”
