“There are a few things that go into my love of this image,” says wedding photographer Sophie Berard, “like how the police had to get off their motorcycles to find the owner of the U-haul that was blocking Bourbon St.—totally illegal, but completely New Orleans—and how the bikes also framed the couple perfectly. I also love that the light from one of the motorcycles seeped into the frame of the next negative—you can see it if you look closely.”

The film and digital shooter says she also loves how timeless black and white feels. “Color simply doesn’t make me feel the way that I feel when I look at a beautiful black-and-white photo, especially one with texture and a bit of grain.”
